Fraud : Huw Edwards

Huw EdwardsSince his admission as a solicitor in 1976 Huw Edwards has spent almost all of his professional career dealing with Criminal Law.

Following a short period in private practice after his admission he became a Prosecuting Solicitor with The Cheshire Police Authority and then secured an appointment as Deputy Chief Prosecuting Solicitor for North Wales. Upon the creation of the Crown Prosecution Service in 1986 he was appointed as the Branch Crown Prosecutor for North Wales.

In that capacity he had conduct of almost all the serious fraud cases dealt with by the North Wales Police as well as many other significant matters, including virtually all the prosecutions for murder.

In 1992 he left the CPS to return to defence work and since that time has conducted a substantial number of serious fraud matters, including the successful defence of a case then described as the larges fraud prosecution ever commenced by the North Wales Police. He also has experience in defending fraud prosecutions commenced by other bodies, including Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, and the Inland Revenue.

His increasing involvement in dealing with serious fraud matters has led to him becoming a consultant with Quinn Melville.

In addition to his defence practice, Huw Edwards is also a Deputy District Judge and he sits regularly in the Magistrates courts throughout the North West of England.
